Name Generator Guide

A quick guide to getting better results from the generators, saving names, and understanding meanings and origins.

Start Broad, Then Narrow

If you are not sure what you want, start with the Random Name Generator. Generate a few batches, save anything promising, then narrow by first names, last names, gender, style, origin, or starting letter.

Use Filters Carefully

Very tight filters can reduce exact matches. When that happens, the generator may show the closest exact matches first and then broader suggestions so you still get a useful shortlist.

Meanings And Origins

Name origins can be layered. A name may have a root in one language, a popular form in another, and modern usage in many countries. Treat meanings and origins as helpful research notes rather than final authority.

Saved Names

Use Save when you want to keep a name for later comparison. Saved names stay in this browser and can be managed from the Saved Names page.

Before You Use A Name Publicly

For brands, businesses, public projects, domains, or legal uses, always check availability, trademarks, cultural context, and suitability before committing to a name.
